History of Red Border

Overview

A red border is the red frame on a weapon that has Deepsight Resonance and an extractable crafting pattern. Nearly every craftable weapon needs five red-border drops to unlock its pattern.

Last Wish

In the Last Wish raid, red-border weapons drop randomly from any encounter except the exotic One Thousand Voices. Eight legendary weapons are craftable; each needs five red-border copies. Last Wish weapon crafting arrived in Season of the Deep (Season 21). The introductory quest is in the Enclave on Mars. Reports differ on the vendor for the pursuit, naming either Banshee-44 or Suraya Hawthorne.
