History of Protective Weave

Overview

Protective Weave is the intrinsic on The Navigator, an Exotic Trace Rifle with Strand damage. Firing the weapon at an ally grants Woven Mail to both you and that ally. You deal more damage while you have Woven Mail.

Woven Mail reduces incoming non-precision damage and lasts 10 seconds, refreshed each time it is triggered. It does not reduce precision damage. Reports put the PvE reduction at around 60%, and the PvP reduction at roughly 30 to 40%. It stacks with other damage resistance with diminishing returns.

Sources of Woven Mail

Other ways to get the buff include the Thread of Warding fragment, which grants it when you pick up an Orb of Power, and the Abeyant Leap leg armor and Cyrtarachne's Facade helmet.

Tips

Firing at an ally is what gives both of you the buff, so the perk suits group content where you can keep a teammate covered.
