History of Polaris Lance

Polaris Lance is an Exotic Scout Rifle dealing Solar damage, using primary ammo. It carries a flavor quote from Ana Bray.

Overview

Its intrinsic exotic perk is The Perfect Fifth: precision hits return ammo to the magazine, and landing four precision hits loads a delayed Solar explosive round for the next shot. The explosion applies Scorch to affected targets, so it pairs well with Solar subclasses.

Acquisition

• The Monument to Lost Lights / Exotic Archive in the Tower: one source lists the cost as an Exotic Cipher, 125,000 Glimmer and an Ascendant Shard (the item's game data lists "Exotic Archive at the Tower").
• Costs and sources have changed over time; verify in-game.

Catalyst

The Polaris Lance Catalyst drops randomly at the end of Strikes / Vanguard Ops, Crucible and Gambit matches; there is no known way to raise the odds. It adds Dragonfly: precision kills create an elemental explosion. To finish it, get 500 kills with the weapon plus 50 kills with the Perfect Fifth explosive shot (the explosion itself must not be the killing blow; burn damage counts).
