Modifier

Modifiers are special properties that can be assigned to PvE activities to change how they play. They fall into two groups: common modifiers, such as elemental damage changes, enemy traps and Champion types, and activity-specific modifiers that only apply within a particular activity. Some are assigned at random to special missions, while others are fixed to certain difficulty tiers, such as the Advanced through Grandmaster tiers in Destiny 2.

Chaff is a randomly selected modifier added in The Taken King. It disables the player's radar, and it is one of the modifiers active in Grandmaster difficulty in Destiny 2.
