History of Longing

Overview

Longing is a lore Triumph tied to the Constellations lore book. It was added in Season of Dawn on 10 December 2019. The entry is told in the first person by an unnamed Speaker, the first Speaker to be taken prisoner. The narrator is captured by Dregs and questioned about the Great Machine.

Story

The narrator is held in a cave far from the Dregs' settlement. Unlike the usual Fallen forces, these Dregs have no commanders or equipment nearby. Through a translator mask, one of the three young Dregs demands that the narrator reveal the Great Machine's words, and asks why the Machine left humanity. The narrator answers "I don't know." The entry closes with the narrator and the Dregs sitting together in silence, sharing a sense of loss.
