Key Codes

Overview

Key Codes were a seasonal currency of Season of the Splicer. They open the Conflux Chest at the end of an Override run. The Loot Cache spawned there is free for every player, but the Conflux Chest needs one Key Code, which is consumed on opening.

Acquisition

Key Codes were crafted from Ether at the Splicer Gauntlet (found in the quests tab) and could be made at any time while the player had Ether, including during an Override. Ether came from Decrypted Data earned in public events, from the end chests of Lost Sectors, and from strikes, Crucible and Gambit. The Gauntlet's Memory Expansion upgrades raised its Key Code capacity to 4, 5 and 6 slots; these upgrades are bought at H.E.L.M. with Decrypted Data.

Related

Corrupted Key Codes were a separate item. They dropped from enemies as a blue mote, stacked to five, and opened Corrupted Conflux Chests in Corrupted Expunge missions, which use the same loot pool as a Conflux Chest. The later Seraph Key Codes of Season of the Seraph are a different currency.
