History of Kepler

Revision 5244 by archivist at 2026-10-01 23:22:24

Kepler is the primary destination of The Edge of Fate expansion (released July 15, 2025): a small rocky planetoid in the Oort Cloud, about 1.7 light years from the Sol System, with a breathable atmosphere and saturated with dark matter. A gravitational singularity there is revered by the Aionians as the "Holy Anomaly".

Access

Complete the mission "The Invitation".

Regions

Landing zones: Caldera, Aionian Campus, The Stacks, Curtilage Divide and Assimilated Easement; also The Singularity, Central Academy, Exile's Accord, Outer Steppes and The Gorge. Wikipedia describes Kepler as a non-linear, Metroidvania-inspired exploration area rather than a conventional patrol zone.

Abilities

Story progress unlocks dark-matter powers that open new areas: Matterspark (Arc ball form), Matterweave (Strand object manipulation), the Relocator Cannon (Void teleportation) and Rosetta (translating Aionian script to open doors).

Vendors and NPCs

No vendor list was given by Destinypedia. Wikipedia names Lodi (Dr. Louis Yero), a human guide NPC. Maya Sundaresh commands the Nessian Schism Vex there.

Activities

14 story missions, the 3 player activity The Sieve and the raid The Desert Perpetual. The raid launched July 19, 2025 in the Nine's Unknown Space, with a 48 hour Contest Mode; an epic-difficulty version followed September 27 (Wikipedia).

Lore

The AION Initiative found Kepler before the Golden Age; after the Collapse isolated colonists, the Aionians, kept studying it. House of Exile Fallen made peaceful contact but were corrupted by dark-matter-tainted Ether; Archon Levaszk claimed to hear "The Giver", really the Nine member III. Maya Sundaresh killed III with the Echo of Command.
