History of Izanagi's Burden

Izanagi's Burden is an Exotic Kinetic Sniper Rifle from the Black Armory, introduced in Season of the Forge.

Overview

• Archetype: Adaptive sniper, 90 RPM, 4-round magazine.
• Intrinsic perk Honed Edge: hold reload to consume the magazine and load a single round with extra range and damage.
• The name comes from Shinto's Izanagi; the lore tells of a sacrifice made out of love.

Acquisition

• Currently: the Exotic Archive at the Tower, which in game lists it as a purchase using an Exotic Cipher plus materials (one guide quotes 1 Exotic Cipher, 150,000 Glimmer, 250 Spinmetal Leaves and 2 Ascendant Shards; costs may have changed).
• Sources disagree on naming: the older wikis say it is available from the Monument to Lost Lights (since Destiny 2: Beyond Light), which the Exotic Archive appears to have replaced.
• Historically: the "Mysterious Box" Exotic quest from Ada-1, requiring Black Armory forges at max temper and a custom Bergusia Forge encounter. The Destiny Game Wiki gives a different quest name ("Lock and Key") and season; this is unreliable, so treat the Destinypedia account as more detailed.

Catalyst

The Izanagi's Burden Catalyst adds orb generation on multikills and a kill tracker, and unlocks the perk Peerless Edge, increasing the Honed Edge damage bonus when four bullets are consumed. It drops from strikes, Crucible and Gambit and completes at 500 kills (per search summaries).
