Into the Abyss

Into the Abyss is an Exotic quest that introduces the Guardian to the Void subclass. It rewards one Exotic armor piece for your class plus the Legendary auto rifle Positive Outlook.

Overview

• Given by: Ikora Rey in the Tower Bazaar (The Tower).
• Finish with: Banshee-44 in the Tower Courtyard.
• Requirement: community guides say you need your Light subclasses unlocked first.
• Length: nine steps, mostly ability kills, one boss kill, a short shopping trip and one graded Solo Op.
• Exotic reward by class: Titan gets Heart of Inmost Light, Hunter gets Graviton Forfeit, Warlock gets Contraverse Hold. The in-game final step lists all three; you receive the one for your class.

Walkthrough

1. Speak with Ikora Rey in the Tower Bazaar.
2. With a Void subclass equipped, defeat 120 weakened targets, defeat 40 targets with abilities and cast your Super 3 times. Use Void abilities, Aspects, Fragments or gear with the Weaken keyword. The Echo of Undermining Fragment adds Weaken to Void grenades. Strikes and other group content with many weak enemies are the quickest place to farm this.
3. Defeat a strong adversary (a boss) in any Ops activity while using your Void subclass.
4. Buy the Chaos Accelerant Aspect from Ikora Rey in the Tower Bazaar.
5. Meditate at the meditation device next to Ikora to learn the new ability.
6. Speak with Ikora Rey again; she hands over your Exotic armor.
7. Equip your Void subclass and the new Exotic armor. If you no longer have it, reacquire it from Collections.
8. Complete any Solo Ops activity on Advanced difficulty or higher with a grade of B or better, with your Void subclass and the new Exotic equipped.
9. Speak with Banshee-44 in the Tower Courtyard to claim Positive Outlook.

Rewards

• Contraverse Hold (Warlock gauntlets), Graviton Forfeit (Hunter gauntlets) or Heart of Inmost Light (Titan chest armor).
• Positive Outlook (Legendary auto rifle, all classes).

Version note

The quest has been reworked. Older guides (Season of the Deep, Season 21) describe step 3 as the Orrery Lost Sector on Nessus and step 8 as The Insight Terminus strike. The current in-game steps instead ask for a boss kill in any Ops activity and a graded Advanced Solo Op. Follow the in-game text if it differs from older guides.
