History of IX.I: The Unmaking

Overview

IX.I: The Unmaking is a lore Triumph for the first of two entries titled "The Unmaking" in the Inquisition of the Damned lore book, added with Shadowkeep in October 2019. The entry is narrated in the third person and opens with an invocation to a sister. It covers the Song of Life, the Song of Death, and the Stricken's inquisition, and gives the history of Azavath's Song: it began as a gift, stolen from the Gardener, before it became corrupted.

The previous entry is VIII: A Sacrifice of Self, and the next is IX.II: The Unmaking, which continues with Malkanth carrying out the unmaking.

How to complete

The entry is a lore pickup on the Moon. A Shadowkeep-era video guide lists it at The World's Grave as lore item 12 of 14. Destinypedia describes the pickups as Hive scrolls, found while on patrol or in the Pit of Heresy. Pickup locations may have changed since launch, so check the Triumphs menu for the current list.
