II. A perfect when

Overview

II. A perfect when is a triumph in Destiny 2 that presents chapter II of the lore book The Immanent. The chapter was added with The Edge of Fate on 23 July 2025. It is narrated in first person by an unnamed commander whose mind merges with the player's, while an ancestor advisor called Warden speaks to them.

Lore

The narrator opens with the idea that time, not power, corrupts, so even perfect things eventually decay. Warden directs them to find their goal, Chioma, who waits in a time before the Collapse near Neptune. The narrator recalls a past Golden Age that began on Venus and Earth and was already decaying before they reached Neptune. Chioma is alive in the present, preparing for her next contract, while a Pyramid fleet threatens Earth with a neutron bomb. The narrator concludes that their only asset is a lever, and that with a place to put it they could move the world.
