History of Fireteam Ops

Fireteam Ops is the main three-player matchmade playlist in the Portal ops categories, and is built for 1 to 3 Guardians.

Overview

It sits alongside Solo Ops, Arena Ops and Pinnacle Ops and collects matchmade PvE content such as Strikes and Battlegrounds. Activities include Strikes, Battlegrounds, Expeditions and Reclaim.

Launching

Since the Monument of Triumph update (9 June 2026) the Portal screen has been removed. Open the Director, scroll to the bottom and select the Vanguard Ops category, where Fireteam Ops is listed. Before that update, Fireteam Ops was launched from the Portal screen, individually or through the Quickplay playlist.

Difficulty

There are six difficulty levels: Normal, Advanced, Expert, Master, Grandmaster and Ultimate. Expert, Master and Grandmaster can be matched and require Power 300; Normal, Advanced and Ultimate are for premade fireteams only.

Rewards

Rewards scale with difficulty. Commander Zavala handles engram focusing for Vanguard gear.

History

Fireteam Ops was part of Vanguard Ops, whose seasonal playlists are now reached through the Director.
