History of Europan Explorer II

Overview

Europan Explorer II is a Variks pursuit quest on Europa. It follows Europan Explorer I and is the gate to harder Empire Hunts. It requires no special story beyond completing the early Beyond Light content, and takes roughly a few hours of normal play (longer for higher counts).

Note: sources I checked (Destiny Game Wiki, last updated around late 2022, and a 2025 guide) do not mention this quest being removed, but both are older or secondhand, so the current in-game state should be confirmed. The quest was introduced in Season 12 with Beyond Light. Variks sells it in Charon's Crossing on Europa.

Walkthrough

1. Complete Empire Hunts and defeat 30 challenging (yellow-bar or stronger) combatants such as Lieutenants and bosses. The step is titled "Power Hungry" in game.
2. Visit Variks in Charon's Crossing to hand in the quest and claim the reward.

Rewards

Unlocks the Elected difficulty for Empire Hunts (the 2025 guide lists Adept, Hero, Legend and Master tiers; sources differ on exact naming) and leads to Europan Explorer III.
