History of Devouring Essence

Overview

The Devouring Essence is a Scorn debuff in Captive Memories, the third mission of Episode: Revenant, set in the Prison of Elders. It begins when the Revenant Baron lockout encounter starts, and it returns when Skolas becomes immune at 50% health during his fight. The debuff kills the player if its timer runs out, which TheGamer gives as 43 seconds.

Dispelling

The mission objective is to eliminate the Totems to dispel the Devouring Essence, according to Destinypedia. In the Baron encounter, the totem appears after the Baron is killed and must be destroyed. TheGamer does not say that destroying it removes the buff, so check the current in-game objective.

Encounter

In the lockout encounter, defeat the three marked High Revenants to drop the Baron's shield, then kill the Baron. During the Skolas fight, three High Revenants spawn at 50% health, and defeating them breaks his shield. Splinter Mines appear during the fight and must be disarmed by standing in the circle beneath them.

Story

Fikrul uses the Echo to bring Skolas back. Guardians defeat Skolas, but Fikrul revives him with the Echo, and both escape.
