History of Deep

The Deep is the name used in Hive lore for the Darkness, the paracausal force opposed to the Light. The Hive's power comes from it: the Worm gods dwell in the depths of the Fundament and tempted the three sisters (who became Savathûn, Xivu Arath and Auryx) with power and immortality in exchange for being parasitised by their larvae. Auryx later slew the Worm God Akka, communed with the Deep and became Oryx, the Taken King, gaining the power to Take. See also Season of the Deep and Ur.
