History of Boon

Boons are the player-beneficial modifiers in the activity customization of the Portal, added with Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate. The opposite are Bane modifiers, which empower enemies; see also Challenge Modifiers.

What they do

• Boons are bonuses that strengthen your build or make an activity easier; TheGamer says you may select up to three.
• Examples: Grappler (replaces your grenade with three grapple charges that recharge on touching a surface) and Brawler (buffs melee damage and recharge speed).

Score and rewards

Sources disagree somewhat. TheGamer says boons do not directly set reward tier; they help you survive higher difficulties so you reach a higher grade. GameNGadgets says that on lower difficulties boons raise your final score, but at higher tiers they reduce it. Check the Reward Forecast in game.

The Boon Modifiers triumph asks you to finish an activity with a Boon active.
