History of Beneath the Necropolis

Overview

Beneath the Necropolis is a Nightfall-type Portal activity on The Moon built from the opening of the Pit of Heresy dungeon (from Destiny 2: Shadowkeep). It was added with Ash and Iron and has a 15-minute bonus timer. Its description is: venture beneath Luna's surface to locate the Chamber of Suffering.

Encounters and mechanics

Based on the Pit of Heresy dungeon: the Necropolis, where you take a Hive Cleaver from an Accursed Swordbearer and kill three Disciples at rune-marked towers; the Tunnels of Despair with unkillable Harrowing Pariahs and Void orbs; and the Chamber of Suffering, a stacking debuff where you kill Knights, deposit orbs and stand under a Hive Totem to avoid a wipe.
