History of Auto Rifle

Overview

An auto rifle is a primary weapon that fires continuously while its trigger is held. Auto rifles trade the precision and damage per shot of slower weapons for sustained fire and forgiving aim. In Destiny 2 they use primary ammunition, so reserves are not limited by special or heavy ammo pickups.

Use

Auto rifles are suited to sustained damage against groups of minor enemies and to engagements where a player can keep the reticle on a target. Their effectiveness depends on archetype, range, stability, and the current weapon sandbox; check an individual weapon's page for its frame and perks.
