Authentication Key

Overview

Authentication Keys are quest objects in the Expunge missions, used to remove the locks on the final boss's shield. Destroying the Vex diamond in front of a gate spawns a key that must be escorted to a deposit station.

Mechanics

A key lasts 10 seconds when first picked up. Running past a Datacube sets the key's respawn point, and standing on the plate it leaves refills the key's timer. An expired key reappears at the last Datacube passed. Each key deposited removes one of the three locks holding the final boss.

Nexus Guardians

Nexus Guardians are much tankier Harpys that guard the Vex cages holding the keys. Defeating one lowers its cage. One guards each of the two extra keys needed.
