History of Arena Ops

Arena Ops is a six-player playlist of Guardians activities, one of the ops categories of The Portal (introduced with The Edge of Fate).

Overview

Arena Ops sits alongside Solo Ops, Fireteam Ops and Pinnacle Ops in the Portal's Vanguard Ops section. It is group content for up to six Guardians, with matchmaking available for solo players. It offers a way to earn larger activity rewards without scheduling a Raid or Dungeon.

Launching

Since the Monument of Triumph update (9 June 2026), the Portal screen has been removed and Arena Ops is opened from the Director: select the Vanguard node at the bottom and switch to the Arena tab. It can also be launched from the Vanguard Alerts tab in the Seasonal Hub.

Activities

Rotating seasonal activities: Ketchcrash, Astral Alignment and Nightmare Containment, plus Override at The Moon, Last City Crater, Europa and The Tangled Shore. One Override location is featured at a time, rotating weekly.

Rewards

Arena Ops and Pinnacle Ops both require Vanguard Ciphers, which are earned from their activities and spent on focused gear with Commander Zavala in the Tower. Rewards include Tier 3+ gear, including high-Power weapons, and seasonal weapons with the Accelerated Assault origin trait, plus weekly Vanguard Alerts.

History

The Portal came with The Edge of Fate in July 2025. The Monument of Triumph update (9 June 2026) removed the Portal screen and moved its ops playlists to the Director.
