Altars of Sorrow: Final Phase is a triumph to defeat a Tier V Nightmare boss. It is part of the Altars of Sorrow triumph set.
How to complete
- Start or join an Altars of Sorrow event in Sorrow's Harbor on the Moon.
- Clear tiers I-V. Prioritise the Nightmares over regular Hive: each one that reaches an altar sacrifices itself and takes 10 seconds off the timer.
- At the boss tier, kill the day's boss (Nightmare of Phogoth, Nightmare of Taniks or Nightmare of Zydron). Burst it while it is vulnerable; when it goes immune, kill the spawned Nightmares so the shield drops.
Tips
- Bring add-clear for the Hive and a burst weapon for the boss. Suggested loadouts: a Solar Warlock with Well of Radiance or a Void Hunter with Tether.
- Join an already running event to skip waiting.
Altars of Sorrow is a player-started horde-style public event in Sorrow's Harbor on the Moon, introduced with Shadowkeep. Teams defend altars against waves of Hive and Nightmare enemies (tiers I-V) before a boss tier. This describes the Shadowkeep-era version of the event.
The event in brief
- Tiers I-II: 4-5 Nightmares. Tier III adds shielded Wizards that need cleaver drops from Accursed Swordbearer Knights. Tiers IV-V have 7-8 Nightmares and more Wizards.
- The timer starts at 60 seconds. Killing regular Hive adds 1 second, and a Nightmare that reaches an altar and sacrifices itself costs 10 seconds. Accounts differ on whether killing a Nightmare also adds time; one account says it adds 10 seconds.
- The final tier is a boss rotating daily: Nightmare of Phogoth (drops Blasphemer), Nightmare of Taniks (drops Apostate) or Nightmare of Zydron (drops Heretic). The boss becomes immune periodically and spawns Nightmares that must be cleared or they sacrifice at the altar.
