History of Altar of Reflection: Insight

Overview

Altar of Reflection: Insight is one of four Altars of Reflection activities in Savathûn's Throne World, added with Destiny 2: The Witch Queen. The in-game description says: revisit the memory linked to the Tablet of Ruin. The entry point is deep within the Sepulcher Lost Sector. It is a Story-type activity that can be played during and after the campaign; the four altars rotate in the director.

Encounters and mechanics

Each altar follows the same pattern: solve a rune puzzle (either a Rune Pattern puzzle, where you shoot the columns whose runes do not match the rest, or a Cursed Pool puzzle, where you stand under the matching symbols), defeat a group of Lucent Hive including a Lightbearer Hive Archivist and an Ultra, then interact with the altar to view a memory fragment of Savathûn. Per mein-mmo, one altar uses the Cursed Basin/Pool sequence puzzle; the same article places Insight in a differently named Lost Sector, which may reflect an older layout, so the in-game description above is used.

Rewards

Per mein-mmo, the weekly altar quests grant Powerful gear; the rest of the reward details were not confirmed in the sources opened. Sources describe the memory itself as the main payoff for the story.
