Overview

Alak-Hul, the Darkblade, is a Hive Darkblade Knight and foster son of Oryx. He and his mate, the Hive Wizard Verok, were at the Hellmouth when Eris Morn and Eriana-3 led a fireteam to kill Crota. Their offspring killed the Titan Vell Tarlowe during the raid, and Alak-Hul landed the final blow with his axe. Sources spell Vell and Verok inconsistently.

Rebellion and death

After the failed raid, Alak-Hul and Verok rebelled against Oryx. The rebellion was crushed. He acted partly from feeling neglected by Oryx and partly to win Verok's regard. Oryx's warriors captured him and ordered him imprisoned aboard the Dreadnaught. After Oryx left the material realm, Eris Morn ordered his elimination to keep him from claiming the Hive throne and to avenge Tarlowe. A fireteam killed him in his dark cell.

Afterlife

A Hive Ghost later resurrected him as the Lightblade. He allied with the Lucent Brood and guarded a temple to Oryx for Savathûn. Guardians killed him again in the Lightblade Strike.

Appearances

Alak-Hul was the boss of the Sunless Cell Strike on the Dreadnaught in the original Destiny expansion The Taken King. The fight took place in total darkness. When the strike returned in Destiny 2 (Heresy), a new Darkblade replaced him, and the story was rewritten for Heresy.
