History of Abyssal Champion

The Abyssal Champion is an Ultra-ranked variant of the Hive Darkblade, belonging to the Hive species and Savathûn's Brood sect. Champions advance on the nearest Guardian with large axe swings and periodically teleport to launch surprise attacks. Once enough damage is dealt, their helm falls off and they become enraged.

Where it appears

The Abyssal Champion appears in the Heroic version of the Witches' Ritual public event on Titan, and in the weekly Ascendant Challenges in the Dreaming City.

Heroic event

The event begins with two shielded Hive Wizards. Stand in the lit hex circles to drop their shields, kill them, then destroy the two crystals at the top corners of the portal. Sources differ on the heroic boss's name: Destinypedia names the Abyssal Champion, while the D2 Wiki calls it the Darkblade Knight.
