History of Vostok Observatory

Overview

The Vostok Observatory is a Soviet-era scientific facility near the summit of Felwinter Peak in Old Russia on Earth. It could be reached only by gondola.

History

By the Golden Age the observatory had been decommissioned and run as a public museum by the Vostok Observatory Historical Society. In the Dark Age, the Warlord Felwinter rediscovered it and made it his fortress, where he kept a throne. After Felwinter joined the Iron Lords, they built their stronghold on his mountain, and Lord Silimar built the Iron Temple across from the observatory. After SIVA brought down the Iron Lords, Lord Saladin Forge sealed the Temple and the observatory was abandoned. About 400 years later, the House of Devils tried to seize the Temple, and a Guardian cleared them out of the observatory. It became active again under the new generation of Iron Lords.

Game appearances

The observatory first appeared in Destiny: Rise of Iron, then in Destiny 2's Warmind, Season of the Worthy, Season of the Seraph and Season of the Wish. During the Red War, Lord Shaxx converted it into the Crucible map Vostok.
