History of Vex Invasion

Vex Invasion was a seasonal Vex event on the Moon in Destiny 2, introduced during the Season of the Undying (October 2019) after Shadowkeep. Sources differ on its format: the D2 wiki describes it as a Legendary quest given by Ikora Rey, while Destinypedia describes a world event.

World event

Players unlocked the activity through the Eyes on the Moon quest. Invasions took place in three areas of the Ocean of Storms: Anchor of Light, Archer's Line and Hellmouth. Each invasion began with an Ultra-level Gate Lord surrounded by Goblins, Hobgoblins and Harpies. Its Quantum Hydras had to be destroyed first, and three Gate Lords ended the activity. If every Hydra and Gate Lord fell, a Vex Overlord appeared, and a nearby chest held Legendary Vex Mind Components and seasonal gear.

Quest steps

According to the D2 wiki, the quest has four steps: Emergent Protocol (defeat Vex from the Black Garden, after the Shadowkeep mission A Mysterious Disturbance), Eyes on the Moon (visit Eris Morn in the Sanctuary), A World Apart (complete one Vex Offensive) and The First of Many (return to Ikora Rey). Each step awards 10 Vex Mind Components and one Powerful Gear item.
