History of Vanguard

Overview

The Vanguard are the Last City's elite Guardian leaders, who coordinate Hunters, Warlocks and Titans. Each class has its own Vanguard seat, and the Vanguard Dare applies only to Hunters; Titans and Warlocks elect their own representatives.

Current leadership

• Ikora Rey holds the Warlock Vanguard seat and is the Vanguard Commander.
• Crow holds the Hunter Vanguard seat. The Hunter seat was vacant for almost six years after Cayde-6's death.
• The Titan Vanguard seat is vacant.

Commander Zavala was the Vanguard's Titan leader and is the Vanguard vendor in the Tower Courtyard. Sources disagree on whether he is still the current Vanguard Commander, so check the in-game leadership listing for the latest state.

Operations

The Vanguard run their operations from the H.E.L.M. (Hub for Emergency Logistics and Maneuvers), a ship with a war table for real-time tactical information. It was first set up in a hangar of the Last City. In Season of the Haunted it left the Tower for the first time and was stationed over the Moon to deal with the Derelict Leviathan. After the Red War the Vanguard set up a new base near the ruins of the old Tower. Most Vanguard quests begin at The Tower.
