History of The Sunless Cell

Overview

The Sunless Cell is a strike originally from the Destiny 1 expansion The Taken King (set on the Dreadnaught). It was reprised in Destiny 2 with Episode: Heresy - Act III (spring 2025), updated for the modern sandbox. It is a 3-player matchmade or customizable Strike, playable at several difficulties.

Encounters

The reprised version has you disrupt Xivu Arath's ritual in the prison, fighting Taken enemies inside the cell. The boss is Obak-Hul, Imprisoned, a champion of Xivu Arath wielding the hilt of Willbreaker; a Taken ray hits him and he becomes Obak-Hul, Transformed. Designers kept the original's memorable "knife fight in a dark closet" feel. Sources do not give the Power level.

Rewards

Loot includes the Luminopotent armor sets and weapons such as Cynosure, Aurora Dawn, Nightshade and Service Revolver (see the rewards list).
