History of The Greatest Sacrifice

Overview

The Greatest Sacrifice is a one-step Lost Ghost quest added with Shadowkeep in Season 8, Season of the Undying. Historically, after completing the campaign, Guardians could obtain a Lost Ghost Trace and exchange it with Eris Morn for a Dead Ghost search on the Moon. This guide describes that archived 2019 route and does not promise the trace or quest is currently obtainable.

Walkthrough

1. After receiving the quest from Eris, travel through the northern part of the Hellmouth into the Gatehouse. Continue down the halls past the black-water room with sword racks. In the next circular room with enemies, check the right-hand grated wall where daylight shines through; the Dead Ghost lies on the ground in front of it. Turn back if you reach the Circle of Bones.

Rewards

The preserved quest record lists no separate item reward. GameSpot describes the Lost Ghost searches as unlocking the associated lore entry and Phantasmal Fragments; the specific quest data does not enumerate those as a direct reward here.
