History of The Book of Unmaking

The Book of Unmaking is a lore book introduced in Season of the Forge alongside the Last Word Exotic quest. It holds passages translated from the 7th Book of Sorrow, with handwritten notes by Teben Grey, a Shadow of Yor. Entries are unlocked by completing steps of The Last Word quest.

Chapter I: Cages

Chapter I argues that the body and mind are prisons. It says the current flesh was inherited from unworthy predecessors and is weak and aging, and that evolution has to be claimed rather than given, which requires being "unmade". The chapter ends with the line "Evolution is claimed only through our unmaking." Teben Grey's note admits that the Hive's ceremonies and views on evolution are not fully understood, and that the translations are incomplete.
