History of Stability

Stability is a weapon stat that governs how much recoil a weapon has when fired. Higher Stability means lower recoil, so the gun kicks upward less per shot and returns to target faster. Mouse users get a recoil scalar roughly 20% lower than controller players.

Effects

  • Recoil: Stability reduces how far the gun hops after each trigger pull. It affects the strength of the kick, not its left and right direction.
  • Flinch: It resists the camera shake from incoming fire. The amount varies by weapon archetype.
  • Aim assist: During sustained fire, the aim assist cone shrinks toward a floor. Higher Stability slows that shrinking, which helps shots stay on target.

The left and right drift is controlled by the Recoil Direction stat. One guide attributes the kick direction to a stat named Recoil instead, so the naming differs between sources.

Raising Stability

Stability can come from masterworks, barrels and grips such as Polygonal Rifling, Corkscrew Rifling and Smallbore, magazines such as Flared Magwell, and perks such as Zen Moment and Tap the Trigger.
