History of Security Drones

Overview

Security Drones are yellow, floating surveillance drones built by Clovis Bray and used mainly at Braytech facilities. They were deployed in large numbers during Season of the Seraph across the Moon, Europa, Mars and Seraph Station, and they became collectibles tied to triumphs.

Locations

There are 50 drones in total. One full guide's breakdown is 10 on the Moon, 10 on Europa, 6 in each of the three Heist Battlegrounds (Moon, Europa and Mars), and 12 in Operation: Seraph's Shield. Some drones sit behind hologram puzzles in Seraph's Shield, where three holograms must be shot in the correct order to open the way.

Destroying them

Only the Exotic pulse rifle Revision Zero can destroy them. It is earned from the Operation: Seraph's Shield quest. The Seraph's Shield drones also need the Tactical Armor and Security Clearance upgrades for the Exo Frame, which come from the "More Than a Weapon" questline.

Rewards

Destroying all 50 unlocks the Drone Destruction triumphs and is required for Guardian's Best Friend. Once every drone is destroyed, a locked door in Operation: Seraph's Shield opens onto a mechanical dog; petting it at the Exo Frame in the H.E.L.M. completes that triumph. Destinypedia also says destroying all 50 grants access to the Maintenance Substructure at Seraph Station.

Suppressor use

With the Suppressor augment, a drone emits electromagnetic pulses that glitch electrical systems. The pulse can short-circuit Taniks, the Scarred and stun him briefly.

Origin

Sources disagree on when they first appeared. Destinypedia dates them to Destiny 2: Beyond Light (first in Deep Stone Crypt) and says they returned in Season of the Seraph. Guides from that season present them as the season's collectibles. Guides date from 2023, so locations may not match later content.
