History of Promotion Series

Overview

A Promotion Series is a best-of-three match gate in Competitive Crucible. It starts when a player reaches the top sub-tier of a division, such as Gold I, Silver I or Bronze I. The player must win two of the three matches to advance.

If the player loses the series, they stay in their current division and lose Division Points equal to two losses. A series still open at the weekly reset is dropped.

Reported rules differ on scope: one Season 23 note says promotion series only affect Adept and Ascendant, while the guide this page draws on applies them at the top of every division.
