History of Novel Focusing

Overview

Novel Focusing is the second tier of Exotic armor focusing at Master Rahool, added with The Final Shape in June 2024. It lets players focus new Exotic armor pieces they have not yet unlocked.

Unlocking

Access comes after raising Rahool's Cryptarch rank to the maximum (Rank 17), which means reaching rank 16 and then filling the bar. A later 2024 guide describes the gate differently, as resetting the reputation track once and then resetting the rank. Check the in-game tab for the current requirement.

Cost

Each focused piece costs one Exotic Engram and one Exotic Cipher. Shatteredvault's guide says the focus can be used for any character on the account and has no weekly limit.

Engrams

Legend and Master Lost Sectors no longer drop a set Exotic armor piece. They award Exotic Engrams, which are decrypted or focused at Master Rahool. Other sources of Exotic Engrams include weekly ritual challenges, Season Pass levels and occasional mission rewards.
