History of Neomuna

Neomuna is a hidden tech-metropolis on Neptune, untouched by the Collapse. It is the destination of Lightfall (released 28 February 2023), and was first identified as Neomuna in that expansion.

Overview

Neomuna is a cyberpunk city of humans called Neomuni who escaped the Collapse, with a digital network, the Cloud Ark, tied to the paracausal Veil. After the campaign it becomes a free-roam patrol space.

How to get there

Complete the mission "First Contact". Reaching it means pursuing Emperor Calus and the Witness's forces there alongside Osiris during the Lightfall campaign. Requires the Lightfall expansion.

Regions

Ahimsa Park, Límíng Harbor, Striders' Gate (with the Hall of Heroes), Zephyr Concourse, Cirrus Plaza, Assur Academy and Esi University, with spots such as Maya's Retreat, Esi Terminal and the Veil Containment vault.

Vendors and NPCs

Nimbus (vendor), Quinn Laghari (archivist), Rohan and the Cloud Striders Guardians, cybernetically enhanced warriors who protect the Neomuni. The Neomuni live without access to the Traveler's Light and are sustained by the digital Cloud Ark network linked to the Veil. The Guardians ally with Rohan and Nimbus.

Activities

Story missions, patrols, strikes, Crucible matches, Lost Sectors, exotic quests, and rotating Vex Incursion Zones. Strange Vex behaviour across the city is also investigated. The Strand subclass is learned while defending the city. The Root of Nightmares raid (10 March 2023) follows the campaign, against Nezarec and Shadow Legion forces; it is not set on Neomuna's patrol space.

Notable loot

Regional chests, action figure collectibles and Exotic armor from public events.

Lore

Founded by Exodus Indigo survivors carrying Ishtar Collective scientists, Neomuna stayed hidden for centuries and found the Veil beneath it. It was later invaded by the Shadow Legion, who sought the Veil for the Witness; the campaign ends with Calus defeated and prevented from linking the Veil to the Traveler.

History

Introduced with Lightfall (28 February 2023). Destinypedia says it was first mentioned in The Witch Queen.
