Overview

Navigator's Companion is a Triumph in Destiny 2 that requires obtaining The Navigator, the Strand Exotic Trace Rifle, from the Ghosts of the Deep dungeon. Completing it awards 20 Triumph Score.

How to complete

  1. Wait until Ghosts of the Deep is the weekly featured dungeon. The Navigator can only be farmed while the dungeon is featured.
  2. Run the dungeon and defeat its final boss, Simmumah ur-Nokru, which is the source of the Navigator drop. Each character has one weekly chance at the drop, so a Hunter, Titan and Warlock give three chances per week.
  3. Complete Triumphs that raise the drop chance: Deny Death (full flawless clear), Alone in the Deep (full solo clear), King of the Deep (full solo flawless clear), In Memoriam (all Memory of Darkness collectibles) and Sovereign (clear on Master difficulty).

The Ritual Initiation quest also rewards the Navigator during the Rite of the Nine event, which requires one dungeon clear on any difficulty.

Catalyst

The Navigator's catalyst grants the Gordian Knot perk: reload, then fire, to create a Grapple Tangle at the target point that every player can use to grapple.

As of a 2025 guide, the catalyst needs a Lightfall Dungeon Key. Then three Hive Statues must be activated in Ghosts of the Deep and the Lightbear Hives that spawn to protect them defeated. Afterward, 700 kills with the Navigator are required. Farming with Shuro Chi or the opening of Grasp of Avarice speeds up the kills.

A 2023 guide described an earlier catalyst route built around piles of Dead Ghosts, depositing a Vestige of Light at each one, and defeating Thul-Ar, Acolyte of Nokris in three areas. Check the current quest in-game if the two routes differ.
