History of Mare Cognitum

Overview

Mare Cognitum is a lunar region on the Moon in Destiny. It is the setting of The Anomaly, a Crucible map that first appeared in the original Destiny and returned in Destiny 2 during the Season of the Worthy.

The Anomaly

The Anomaly is recommended for 12 players and has a rotating platform at its center that mobile players can use to cross the map quickly. Its middle has narrow hallways and sharp corners that favor Shotguns and Sidearms. Point B is open and exposed to fire from the perch across the map, and Points A and C sit on opposite outer sides. Heavy Ammo spawns at Points A and C, or at Point B in Elimination.

Lore

The region holds a research station that Guardians took over to watch for Hive forces expected to come looking for the Anomaly, an artifact that causes intense electromagnetic fluctuations.
