History of Lore Entries

Overview

Lore Entries are collectible lore books grouped into four sections: The Vanguard, The Light, Dusk and Dawn, and The Darkness. The Vanguard section gives a basic introduction to the game and its world, and most of its books unlock as Guardians advance through Guardian Ranks. The Light covers Guardians, their allies and the Light; Dusk and Dawn covers people and societies caught between the series' main conflicts; and The Darkness covers the Darkness and those who align with the Witness.

Unlocking

Most Lore Entries unlock by finding collectibles in the world or completing certain tasks. Books from the yearly expansion cycle unlock automatically at the end of that cycle. Solving the 27 Middlegame puzzles in the Unknown Antechamber also awards some Lore Entries, and skipping the puzzle forgoes them.
