History of Justified Means

Overview

Justified Means is a lore Triumph in Destiny 2 tied to the A Drifter's Gambit lore book. The entry was added with Destiny 2: Forsaken in August 2018.

Lore entry

The entry is written by an unnamed Renegade, credited as “A Renegade's Observations of a Drifter.” The Renegade first heard of the Drifter as a rumoured lone Lightbearer with a Ghost, who acted out of self-interest and rejected the City, the Traveler and the Light.

The speaker finds the Drifter's later turn toward helping others at the Tower suspicious, and suspects the Traveler's silence may have drawn him back. The Renegade once considered the Drifter a threat but now sees him as a possible “necessary catalyst” for a larger plan, cautioning that the means must not overwhelm the ends. The entry closes by calling him “a fine cut of bait.”
