History of Ishtar Sink

Overview

Ishtar Sink is a destination in the Ishtar Terra highlands of Venus, once home to the Golden Age Ishtar Collective and its Academy. In the first game it was contested by the Fallen, the House of Winter, the Vex and later the Taken.

Areas

• Ishtar Academy, including Ishtar Commons, the Hall of Whispers and the N/Gen Branch.
• Ember Caves, which lead to Winter's Lair, the House of Winter's lair.
• The Citadel, including The Juncture and The Terminus.
• The Shattered Coast, with its Headlands landing zone.
• Waking Ruins, which holds Trial of Kabr, Campus 9, Endless Steps and the route to the Vault of Glass.

Ishtar Sink also contains the Crucible maps Asylum and Last Exit.

History

The Ishtar Collective ran the Academy as a research settlement during the Golden Age. The Vex claimed the ruins after the Collapse. Access to the destination requires completing A Stranger's Call.

Later appearances

It is mentioned in Forsaken, Season of the Drifter and The Edge of Fate, and it returned in the revamped Vault of Glass raid in Season of the Splicer, which is marked as non-canon.
