History of Iron Engram

An Iron Engram is a reward for Iron Banner progress. One is granted for each rank increase with Lord Saladin in the Tower. Claiming it from his vendor screen decrypts it into an Iron Banner weapon or armor piece from the current loot pool, with no need to visit Rahool. Per the Destiny 2 Wiki, an engram costs 20 Iron Banner tokens and gives either a weapon or armor piece, not both, with a chance at an enhanced mod. Engrams are also used to focus legacy sets such as Iron Forerunner.
