History of Illicit Reaper Cloak

Overview

The Illicit Reaper Cloak is a Legendary Hunter cloak in the Armor category. Its flavor text reads: "When the end comes… Will you clear the way for him, Hunter?"

It carries the Reaper +1 intrinsic. Reaper is the mote role in Gambit Prime: its pieces create motes for the team. Equipping multiple pieces from the set unlocks its set perks. Gambit Prime armor has three ranks, Illicit, Outlawed and Notorious, and each piece adds role points (one for Illicit, two for Outlawed, three for Notorious).

Acquisition

Bungie's item data lists Xûr as the source. Earlier guides describe Gambit Prime armor as earned through The Reckoning: a Weak Synthesizer turns a Synth into a Mote, which is banked at the start of The Reckoning, and each completed run unlocks one random piece of that role. The Reckoning was vaulted with Beyond Light on November 10, 2020. Other guides describe the rank route instead: complete Gambit Prime matches and increase your rank.
