History of Illicit Invader Hood

Overview

The Illicit Invader Hood is a Legendary Warlock Helmet in the Armor category. Its flavor text reads: "You pride yourself on your ability to kill."

It carries the Invader +1 intrinsic. Invader is the offensive role in Gambit Prime: its pieces assassinate enemies to delay them. Equipping multiple pieces from the set unlocks its set perks. Gambit Prime armor has three ranks, Illicit, Outlawed and Notorious, and each piece adds role points (one for Illicit, two for Outlawed, three for Notorious).

Other Invader pieces in the set: Illicit Invader Mark, Illicit Invader Mask, Illicit Invader Plate, Illicit Invader Robes, Illicit Invader Strides, Illicit Invader Vest, all part of Gambit Prime armor.

Acquisition

Bungie's item data lists Xûr as the source. Earlier guides describe Gambit Prime armor as earned through The Reckoning: a Weak Synthesizer turns a Synth into a Mote, which is banked at the start of The Reckoning, and each completed run unlocks one random piece of that role. The Reckoning was vaulted with Beyond Light on November 10, 2020. Other guides describe the rank route instead: complete Gambit Prime matches and increase your rank. The sources disagree on the method. It cannot be reacquired from Collections.
