History of IV. Tether

Overview

IV. Tether is a Triumph in Destiny 2 tied to chapter IV of the lore book Purpose, added with Season of the Deep in May 2023. The chapter is a conversation between Eris Morn and Drifter, narrated in the third person and centred on Eris.

Lore chapter

Eris visits Drifter in the Derelict and tells him that Sloane is in a bad way. She suggests that he, rather than she, should speak with Sloane. Drifter doubts Sloane would trust him, but Eris argues that trust is built through honesty, which is also a way of asking to be seen. Drifter admits he still wakes up scared some days, and Eris tells him that is what surviving looks like. She urges him to share with Sloane what he has told her, because Sloane's trust will require reciprocity. Drifter lets her keep calling him "Germaine", though he insists it is not his name.

How to complete

Lore books sit on the Collections page since Lightfall. Open Collections, go to the Lore section, select Purpose and open chapter IV to read it. Seasonal lore books unlock automatically at the end of their yearly cycle, so the chapter becomes readable once that cycle closes.
