History of Holy Anomaly

Overview

The Holy Anomaly is the name the Aionians gave to the gravitational singularity, a black hole, beneath the surface of Kepler. The Aionians revere it, and a letter from Louis to Ikora Rey says exposure to it affects their relationship with time. It is a landmark within Kepler, not a separate destination.

Lore

The singularity is tied to The Nine. It was manifested by III, the member of the Nine associated with Earth, which used its dark matter to create it before humanity discovered Kepler. The Aionians later also came to call III itself the Holy Anomaly. Maya Sundaresh came to Kepler and killed III by pulling it into three-dimensional space. Its massive corpse remains beneath Kepler, and the singularity at its core is considered a potential threat to the Sol System if it destabilizes.
