History of Following Instructions

Overview

Following Instructions is a Triumph in Destiny 2 earned in Gambit. The game data requires 20 Medals earned. Its description: once your team holds enough motes to summon a Primeval, deposit them without picking up more.

How to complete

1. In a Gambit match, kill enemies to collect motes and watch your team's bank total.
2. When the Drifter announces that your team can summon a Primeval, stop what you are doing and bank immediately. Do not finish the current wave first.
3. Do not pick up any more motes after the threshold. Players in the forum thread describe teammates who chased five extra motes and put the bank run at risk.
4. Clear blockers before banking. You cannot deposit while a blocker is present, so focus fire on any large blocker as soon as it appears.
5. Repeat the cycle until you have earned 20 medals.

Tips

• The mote threshold has changed over time. Reported thresholds in player posts range from about 10 to 12 motes (a 2018 forum thread), so rely on the Drifter's announcement rather than a fixed number.
• Some teammates prioritize their own bounties, which slows the bank run. Agree on a banking call before the match.
• Enemy teams may send blockers and an invader just before you drop motes. Keep one player near the bank to clear them.
