History of Ether

Overview

Ether is a cold gaseous compound the Fallen (Eliksni) breathe to live, made by Servitors from matter and energy. It acts as blood for them and historically was seen as their soul. It was plentiful on their homeworld Riis because of the Traveler; now it is rationed by rank, and low-ranking Eliksni get only enough to survive, which stunts growth into Captains. Control of Ether is political power inside a House, so destroying a Prime Servitor cripples it.
