History of Essence of Pride

Overview

Essence of Pride is a legendary quest from Shadowkeep (introduced in Season of the Undying) on the Moon. Eris Morn's Lectern of Enchantment in Sanctuary sells Essences for Phantasmal Cores; each Essence is a non-expiring quest that you cleanse by completing objectives and then turn into a piece of gear using Nightmare Essence. It rewards a class-specific Dreambane armor helmet. Expect roughly an hour or less of focused play. ProGameTalk says the quest is granted after defeating Nightmare of Skalos in the Nightmare Hunt: Pride.

Walkthrough

1. Defeat Nightmares throughout the solar system. Lost Sector bosses give the most efficient progress. Nightmares defeated on the Moon grant no progress. ProGameTalk recommends the Widow's Walk Lost Sector in the European Dead Zone (2-3 runs), as EDZ enemies are weak.
2. Return to the Lectern of Enchantment in Sanctuary and use the Lectern to infuse the cleansed Essence with Eris's magic.

Rewards

• Dreambane Helm (Titan), Dreambane Cowl (Hunter) or Dreambane Hood (Warlock).

Trivia

• The in-game data used here asks for 30 Nightmares, while the Destiny 2 Wiki lists 10. This may reflect a later change; treat the in-game figure as current.
• Eris Morn: "Hubris is a troll whose greatest trick is played on its bearer..."
