History of Essence of Desire

Essence of Desire is the currency of The Nether, the three-player activity inside the Dreadnaught added in Episode: Heresy. It is spent on rituals activated through the Tome of Want: a ritual with only a Permanent Scripture costs 2, while one with a Crumbling or Amorphous Scripture alongside a Permanent Scripture costs 5.

The Tome of Want is handed out at the Shaping Slab once a Nether reputation rank of 3 is reached. Players can raise that rank by defeating bosses, destroying Sigil Stones, or turning in Metastasized Essentia at the Taken Altar in Eris Morn's apartment in the Last City. Guardians receive the Tome whether or not they progress the main quest.
