Echo Mesa is a destination on Io, the moon of Jupiter, where the Traveler did its final terraforming before the Collapse.

Overview

The Traveler partly built a structure called the Cradle here; Guardians, especially Warlocks, regard it as a pilgrimage site. The Cabal, Vex and Taken later invaded, after the Red War, to exploit the Traveler's residual energy. Nearly three years later a Pyramid of the Black Fleet arrived above the Cradle.

Regions

Landing zones: Giant's Scar, Lost Oasis, The Rupture. Sites include Terrabase Charon, the Pyramidion and Warmind Vault JYS-2.

Activities

Story missions Sacrilege, Fury and Deep Storage; Strikes The Pyramidion and The Festering Core; Lost Sectors Grove of Ulan-Tan, Aphix Conduit and Sanctum of Bones; adventures and world quests (including Arecibo and Road Rage). The destination opens after the Sacrilege mission.

History and availability

Reported availability differs by source. Io was among five destinations (Titan, Io, Mars, Mercury, Leviathan) removed into the Destiny Content Vault at the launch of Destiny 2: Beyond Light in November 2020, while other listings describe Echo Mesa as an active destination.
